i have a 256mb pc2100 ram which is apparently working at 128mb for sum reason. i added another 512mb but this waz before i added the extra ram. i opened the mobo to change the northbridge heatsink and after that, the 256mb ram started to work at 256mb giving a total of 768mb with the 512mb. The next time i started the comp nd it waz ok but the next time i started it, it was back at 128mb again.
n e suggestions wud be very much appreciated.
    thx

Try it in another system. If it also shows up as 128MB, you might've been sold a faulty or mislabled stick--in which case, you'll want to exchange it for a 256MB stick.
