rcp virus help needed

my old pc has what seems to be the msblast virus. when i go on the internet, it says that the remote call procedure terminated unexpectedly. I assumed tghat this was the msblast virus and tried to use the fix tool to remove it. but the tool doesn't detect it. What other virus could this be?

If it is the MSBlaster worm, unplug your cable going from your modem (doesn't matter if it's DSL, Cable or Dial-up). I believe that you'll see it if you bring up task manager. Shut the worm off from here. Then you'll need to have a removal tool at this point. Run that. Get the latest patch for it.
If that doesn't fix it, you can get AVG Antivirus. It's a great free AV program and is much lighter than Norton AV. I'm using this one myself.

if its a worm then its stuck in your pc, i had to reinstall my os when i got that stupid trojan that came out a couple years ago, hope you dont have too

I couldn't get it off the pc so i had to take it to PCWorld. I found that if you open command prompt the type "shutdown/a" without quotes then it aborts the shutdown for that time. Thanks for the help anyway!
