Takes a While Before Computer Hits Desktop. Resolved in Xp, Unable to in Vis

Hi please help, on my upstairs computer which runs on xp, there used to be this when I used to switch the computer on "Do you want to run windows XP”

Now I had to always had to press ENTER to continue the computer to go on desktop. To get rid of this having to start up all the time I had to do the following
[Click on “My Computer”, Tools/Folder Option/ View/ Then untick “Show hidden Files/ then put the default setting number to “0” instead of the “30”. This Used to resolve the issue on Windows XP

Is there anyway to do this on windows Vista as I can not find the boot file to do this

on vista, the boot.ini is replaced by BCD.
run (with administrator priviliges) a command prompt, and type bcdedit.exe /?
this will show you the help on editing your boot settings.
