    Hi all,

    My specs are:

    athlon 3800 x2 chip
    asus a8n5x mobo
inno3d geforce 6800 gs video card
    200gb sata drive
    2x512mb crucial ddr400 pc3200 ram

I am looking to upgrade my ram(if it will benefit),with a budget of around £100 for 2x512mb sticks running dual chann.

i am not exactly sure the specific ram i have installed already, only it is crucial(how do i check if this is running in dual chann mode incidentally pls?)

Any advice on what make/model of ram i could use will be greatly appreciated.

    ty

Kingston and Corsair make good ram and Kingston sells ValueRam which is pretty good unless you're planning on overclocking it, since they're not built for that use.

PC 3200 modules are good and the most populair, PC 4000 modules are also faster but cost much more. Both are available in various sizes and most are compatible for your ASUS A8N5X mainboard.

As for a program to check wheter you are currently running ram in dual channel mode try CPU-Z which is easy to install and has a special tab in it's interface where you can view various information about the ram you have installed, included if dual channel is enabled and running.

Marcus_X pretty much explained everything. If you're looking at enthusiast RAM, you might add OCZ to the list.
