I have a Compaq Presario r4000 and I want to replace the video card. Is it possible? I don't want an upgrade, I think the video card has been damaged and want to replace it with the same one. It has an ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200 series.

That is a very complex task, not to mention pricey. Best to just buy a new laptop with a video card that suits you.

Yep, it's most likely soldered onto the motherboard, so you're out of luck. Check local listing in your area though, usually used laptops come up for cheap prices.

You're right. I've since found out it is soldered on. But oh well, this laptop is too old to bother repairing anyway. Time for a new one! Thanks for your help.
