kinda new to it all is it posible to replace the motherboard but still keep the CPU to re-use (its a P4) if so how would i do this any help would be much appreciated
Yes, you can get a newer/better motherboard but you will need to make sure it can house your CPU. Every CPU comes in it's own 'packaging' depending on the particular CPU family. For example, I am using an Intel Pentium 4 processor which fits the socket 478 packaging. Therefore, unless I want to use a different type of packaging, if I wanted to change my motherboard, I will have to get a motherboard which implements the socket 478 packaging. There are other packagings systems out there such as the AMD 939 Intel's 775 and others. Do you know your CPU's socket type? Other factors to concider are: bus speeds, core voltage to name two. If you know what CPU you have it is quite easy to find out whether a motherboard will be good for your CPU. You can check on the motherboard manufacture's site or you can ask here.....
