Samsung is releasing a 10-megapixel camera phone that includes a 3X optical zoom lens and other features usually found only in standalone digicams--but it's bound for the market only in Korea. Like some of the company's previous phones, the SCH-B600 is styled to look like a conventional digital still camera from one side and a bar-type cell phone from the other side, says Martyn Williams, our colleague with the IDG News Service. The high-end camera phone made its debut at the Cebit exhibition in Germany in March. Its other features include a tuner for South Korea's TU Media satellite multimedia service, Bluetooth, MP3 player, business card reader, and TV-output--for a price tag of about $950. The phone is the latest in a line of high megapixel camera phones from Samsung. The company launched a 5-megapixel camera phone in October 2004, a 7-megapixel phone in July 2005 and an 8-megapixel model in November last year. You know...Christmas is coming up, guys, and this camera would make a great stocking stuffer....just a heads up, that's all. (cough cough)....
Whats the point in 10mp!!? You'd probably need a 52inch screen just to see the all the pixels. It probably doesnt even have a glass lens.
I didn't even know you could get 10MP digital cameras, never mind digital cameras with phones! Kind of puts my 2MP Kodak camera to shame :O
It doesnt make the image better though. ie 1024x768 uses 786,000 pixels. If you have more than that then it will take the average of the extra pixels. ie it will lose quality. Its not like film and the size of the negative. 3500x2625 screen resolution will give about 9.2mp, but who has screens which display at that? Shrinking a digital image has the same effect as enlarging it. 2mp is the one imo. 1600x1200
Technically, you might be right as I dont know much about it..... Here is my point, why to buy this mobile phone..? Today most of the mobile phones comes out with the option from where you can select the image quality/resulution/modes etc.... So if you want you can set it back to low megapixel. Now question is, why you should buy this high resolution Camera Phone? Because its always good to have something better, in case you want to use it. You might wants to put a poster of yours in your room which you can easily get with 10MP camera phone.. Dont you? Also technology is changing so fast, anything could be possible and its always good to have a future proof... Just like the way you buy your new PC (Go with AM2 instead of 939 for future proof).. Does that makes sense?
Wow, and I remember when 1.3MP phones were concidered crazy good. Why only Korea though, I mean what's the harm in letting a few other contries get the goods. 10MP for a camera is a little crazy, there's definatley a happy medium in there and $950 is not it but I can see it's use when it comes to cropping and expanding small sections of the picture later. I think we all know what happens when we try that with 3 or 4Mp pics, pixelation galore.
I think its just something to do with business... If they start selling this thing in the other countries as well then nobody will buy their cameras.... So they will loose money with this. or there might be so many other reasons/policies.....Who knows hah:
