:ff: Hey. I was just wondering if anyone has a nforce4 chipset and a Maxtor Diamond Plus 10 sata Combination. I have heard there are/were problems with compatability. Just trying to find out before i take the plunge. :ff:

I think (and I might be wrong) you will find that most users here prefer not to purchase Maxtor drives.
Personaly I never had one so cannot comment.
But if you heard that there might be a problem, why not avoid it altogether and go for drives with proven track record such as Western Digital, Seagate and Sansung to name a few?

Yeah but proven track records are a matter of opinion, because in all recent reviews only the hitachi's come closeto the Maxtors. Others with a proven track record suddenly slash their 5 year guarantee to 1 year....mmm...wonder why?
Thanx for the help anyway.
Meanwhile someone sent me this

So i wish i had had plumped for the Hitachi's
And for all you Seagate fans have a look at this

Early on, yes, there was an issue, and I can't remember if Maxtor had a fix for it or not or even if nVidia had some later driver revisions. Now, I know it doesn't affect PATA drives as I run an nF4 box with Maxtor drives and no problems, but I do recall there being an issue with the Maxtor SATA drives. I'm not sure if this affect the newer SATA II drives.

Less warranty time=less money for the consumer. Unfortunately, a lot of people tend to look at the bottom dollar rather than the quality. I don't think it has anything to do with the quality so much as the companies trying to compete on the price-point level.

Yeah thanx Big B. Anyways just realised my mobo is Sata II capable, so im gonna ditch my Maxtor and get some Hitachi's. I didnt realise the Sata II drives are as cheap as Sata I
