I bought this A1Pro SATA>USB2 3.5" enclosure awhile ago but only recently found a use for it. The first Seagate drive worked for a couple days but then turned up as unformatted. Windows Drive Management doesn't work, I tried using Acronis, a more powerful software, and it threw up a lot of damaged sectors.

So I took that out and replaced with a new WD Caviar Green that I just received from an RMA, that too also showed problems and Windows Drive Management couldn't format it. I was able to format using Acronis but when accessed with Explorer I just get the "drive not formatted" dialog.

Granted, Seagate makes shit drives and the one used is pretty old (2 years untouched on the shelf), but if my new WD drive (and WD drives have served me very well over the years) doesn't work as well does this point to the adaptor's issue?

    Cheerio,
    Nicholas.

I've had a very similar issue with an enclosure, and it turned out to be the enclosure that was faulty. Can you connect the WD drive directly to your computer and test it? If different drives produce the same result, it has to be the enclosure.
