after reinstalling my sound card i have had problems with no sound at all and in device manager the card is shown to be installed and working correctly but when i try to run creative sound blaster diagnosis it tells me no hardware is detected, i have tried different pci slots with the card but still to no avail, any help on this would be appreciated, thanks in advance ( os = xp on dell optiplex gxa, pentium2 233mh)
 
Try removing your card from device manager then remove the software and drivers as well. After the necessary series of reboots, reinstall the drivers.
 
Thankyou for your reply anti-Trend, I carried out the suggestion you made and i now have sound on from my card. your help has been invaluable and successful and has been very gratefully appreciated. thankyou once again
