Hi there,
I was watching a media file the other night then all of a sudden the screen suddenly turned white and my pc froze. I forced a shutdown and restarted. My pc worked fine for about another 2 - 3 mins before getting lines of distortion across the screen and freezing again.
My system is a Q9300 cpu, XFX 780i nforce mother board, XFX 9800gx2 video card, 4gb crucial ballistix ram, corsair HX1000w PSU.
Since the initial problems it can take me up to 5 or 6 attempts to turn my computer on because it gives me error beeps as it is booting up, normally with a error code '26' (which is a clock initialisation error) on the motherboard. Once it does start running again it will only stay on up to 5mins before the screen distorts and the pc shuts off.
The last problem I am having with my pc is that if I try to access the bios it will work fine for about 30 seconds then the screen freezes (although it seems to be working in the background as I can hit 'F10' then 'Y' and my pc reboots.
I borrowed a 6600gt video card from a friend and my pc started up and ran fine for hours on end. This makes me think I have a faulty video card.
Can anyone suggest anything else I can try or confirm that I may be right?
cheers
