Hi i am trying to ad a second hard drive to my computer to use as a storage space but cant get it to work.
I have a segate baracuda 7200 40gb connected as the primary master with the jumper set to cable select. this drive holds my os and everything is working OK, But :( I have just baught another of the same drive to use for storage and have connected it to primary slave the jumpers on this drive are also set to cable select.
Once my system is booted up i try and find the drive in my computer and it aint there although it was recognised during system bootup.
Looking in Device manager the drive is also there and it says it is working properlly but it does not tell me that it is enabled like it does on the master drive.
I cant access this drive anywhere :(
Can someone please help and let me know what im doing wrong

It needs to be formatted first. For Windows 2000/XP do this:

Right click on 'My Computer'. Go to Manage. In the box that pops up, go to Disk Management. You'll be able to see all the drives connected to the computer as well as their status, including formatted and unformatted. Right-click on the drive to be formatted, and you'll get a menu popup with an option to format it.

Hi thanks for that i have managed to get the disc to format but i had to convert it to a dynamic disc first and then create a new volume to be able to format it.
