Shared graphics memory

Hi guys.

I have a Gigabyte motherboard M61P-S3
and it has a 64MB video card with up to 800MB shared memory. I have 2GB RAM and I got windows vista.

But I encounter some lags in games because of the shared memory.

Will an additional RAM fix this??

Specs:

AMD Athlon X2 6000+
GIGABYTE motherboard M61P-S3
2GB RAM

thanx all

no, generally onboard grfx cards are not good performance wise, you will experience much better performance by adding a grfx card, if you are not using the PCIe X16 slot you can just disable the onboard grfx in the BIOS and isert a new PCIe grfx card

this post tells you how to recognize the difference between the slot types

On-board graphics are not meant to be heavy hitters. Both the system that has them siphon off part of the system RAM and their relatively low grunt (compared to discrete solutions) just don't make them good for gaming. They're intended for office apps and websurfing, not gaming, as well as cutting costs.

While increasing the amount of RAM available to the on-board graphics can help some, ultimately, if you're serious about gaming the purchase of a separate graphics card is going to be a much better investment than more RAM.
