Not strictly PC, but then everyone needs Music.

I've been given a Sharp MiniDisk gadget. MD-MT180H(s). OK I know the headphones are "rubbish" but I want to use it as a sound-recorder, using the "Line i/p" - I'm happy enough interfacing this.
The issue is that with a blank disc (not write-protected), I am finding using this m/c very confusing.
I've charged the hydride battery (cell 1.2v)...but find the buttons very confusing....if anyone can talk me thro' the operation Rec/Play I'd be most grateful.

Note that Sharp website doesn't recognise this product - I guess it's about 2002 manufacture.....but that's hardly "old".
Searching the internet provides rather too many blind alleys and frankly I don't trust some of the suggestions.

    Button ledgends:
    Rec.
    Bass
    Menu/Charge
    Enter/Sync
(large 4-way button seems to adjust Record level and shift (like fast wind?).).
    Off/Hold (and Stop function)
    Run/Pause

The LCD display is quite small but shows when the disc is "spinning" (and you can just hear it whirling when close to yr ear).

I believe this unit works corrctly, but without the "instructions" it's kinda "DIFFICULT" - any suggestions to stop it saying "Bye-Bye" and switching off.
(The battery charge indicator shows almost fully charged, so it's not shutting down because of supply.).

    Thanks, Forum.
