sony cd/rw

Hi all my problem is i recently replaced my sony cd rw with another sony cd rw the software that came with the first cd rw is b's recorder gold 5 now when i try to burn cd it say's there is no drive connected i've checked the software web site and it say's it supports my new drive any help appreciated i'am a complete novice

have you tried to reinstall the program? or tried a different one? like [link=www.nero]Nero[/link]

also does the drive work in windows?
 
Check that your computer actually uses the drive fine, as changing the software isn't likely to help. Did the drive work with other software before you installed it? Personally I've had problems with my writer when I installed Nero express that came bundled. It kept on saying "incorrect function" when i tried to access blank cds within explorer. I had to reinstall XP to get it working.

Sniper that link doesn't work, how do you make links go to the absolute destination rather than trying to find it in your directory. I remember learning about that code but couldn't recall what it was.
 
I don't know if it's the case here, but I've seen it with versions of Nero packaged with CD-RW drives. What it is, somehow the software has something altered to only work with a certain drive, or maybe just a brand, but if it's set to only work with one CD burner, you'll have to uninstall the current software you have that came with the old drive and reinstall the software with the disc that came with the new drive.
 
Thanks for the repylies people went to the nero site and downloaded free trial that has done the job was able to burn cd's :good: all i need now is to find a good site for downloads anyone know any :rolleyes: probably can't post but send it e mail ;)
