I was looking to buy a new sound card which is located Diamond XtremeSound XS71DDL Sound Card - Retail at Newegg.com and all i am looking for is all around much better sound and i was wondering if this would do it.
well personally i have a SB Audigy Live SE (set to 2.1 speaker system) and i have it connected to a hifi amplifier and crspy hifi speakers, the sound produced is very bassy, just the way i like it good sound from a sound card is more to do with a decent amp and decent speakers the amp is slightly more important than speakers, but both are more important than the sound card P.S. my sound card cost about the equivelent of $40
If you have some really high quality PC speakers, then you will want a pretty good quality sound card, i have the logitech z-5500 speaker system, and on all songs with 128kbps bit rate, they all pretty much dont sound very good, and with my old pc speakers, i couldent really notice anything bad with 128kbps bit rate, and the intergrated sound card never botherd me, but with speakers like these, it all matters especially if your speakers are THX/DTS, Dolby 5.1 etc..
Well i used to have speakers that came with my computer, but instead i hooked my RCA Stereo System up and have several speakers comming off it so it sounds really good, but i think a new sound card could highly improve the sound, and mine does not support open AL or something which is required for Surround Sound on Quake.
hmmm, i would get an X-fi sound card, there designed for gaming. the X-Fi Fatal1ty is pretty expensive, but its worth it, and has a control and front panel for other connections, but depends how much your willing to spend on a sound card.
last month i upgraded my soundcard from Creative SB Live to X-Fi Music, you can definitely notice the changes.
