Hi, I have recently updated my pc and now have a problem with my sound, I am using the inspire 6700 speaker set (creative) and the soundblaster 0220 sound card (oem) as its oem and I no longer have the install cd I am using the kX audio software, all on vista. The problem I am having is that the sound now squeaks and pops whenever im listening to music. I have put the whole thing back in my previous system and it works fine. My old specs were: amd 2800+ processor 756mb ddr ram biostar m7ncd motherboard New specs amd 4200+ x2 64 dual processor 1.5gb ddr2 ram asus m2v motherboard. Thanks Dave
Are the drivers you are using compatible with Windows Vista? I am unfamiliar with SoundBlaster 0220 sound card, is this a really old sound card or onboard sound?
Yeah its an old 5.1 OEM product, creative dont even offer support for it It also does the same thing with xp on this pc, I have dual boot OS with xp and vista.
It may be incompatability between that sound card and the motherboard. You could always try disabling on board sound in the Bios though. To ben honist, i thin you would be better off using the onboard audio, try it, see what you think, also the onboard audio offers more modern sound, connections like Coaxial too, its also got support for 6.1 audio your onboard soundcard has. I notice your speakers are 6.1, the onboard sound would be better than as it supports 6.1
