    Hi!

There are some SpeedFan readings which confuse me and since I'm a bit paranoid about my PCs health, I thought to post a thread.

    So, the weird readings are:

    Temp3: -128 C (Temp1, Temp2 and HD0 are normal @ ~30-39 C)
    -12V: -16.97V
    -5V: -8.78V

Is any of this a indicator of some not-so-good upcoming ('cause I haven't felt nothing unusual yet) events? Or am I really just paranoid.

    Thanks!

I'd think that's more something to do with a BIOS having something mis-calibrated.

What are the readings for the +12V, +5V and +3.3V?

Have you tested any rails with a multimeter?

Well, Big B, here are the requested readings:

    +12V: +12.10V
    +5V: +5.08V
    +3.3V: +3.06V

Can this do any harm (long-term or short-time)?

And - what exactly do you mean by "multimeter"?

Those voltages look pretty good, but the 3.3V is under the +/- 5% leeway. Of course, these readings are done through software, and where they are tested is after the power has been run through the devices. That's why using a multimeter is beneficial.

A multimeter is a device used for testing voltages, ohms, impedence, and other electronic values. You can get separate meters (like a voltmeter only) to test voltages with, but if you need to test some other value, it's worthless. I don't know if you have a Radio Shack or similar electronics store, but you can get a basic multimeter for about $20 US.

What you can do is check Asus website and see if they have a BIOS update for your motherboard that deals with voltage and temperature readings. BIOS updates are cumulative, so the latest BIOS will have the fixes of previous versions.

I've got the newest BIOS already installed; maybe I should reinstall it?

But can those odd minus voltages do any harm? If, yes, then of what type it might be (fried mobo or something else)?
