    Hi

Maybe I should have just continued an old thread but to keep things a bit fresher I will start a new one. Moderators, if this is not in line please let me know...

Right, I have Mandriva working swimmingly. However, I have this odd behaviour from my speedtouch connection:
On the last installation, I configured the modem before finalising the install (summery stage), I chose the interface - speedtouch USB modem, input the right connection parameters, ask for the connection to start at boot and finished.
Then rebooted and to my amazement, the connection was up and running!
However, next time I started my computer, the connection was down. I went to Hardrake chose the modem again and clicked on 'run configure tool'. again I chose the interface, asked it to start at boot, gave it all the parameters and rebooted. Then the connection was up. Right, I thought, that is it. But on next boot the connection was down.

Notice a pattern (not in my threads  )? Basically the boot after me configuring the ADSL connection sees the connection up. The next boot sees the connection down. It is like my instructions are only remembered the once.

Does this make sense to anyone? And how do I make Mandrive "remember" that I would like to connect on each boot using the same device and same parameters etc? *scratching head profusely*

    Quick Update -

Problem solved. Not as I wanted but solved.
If you have reached this thread because you are experiencing the same problem I had, please follow the link - http://www.linux-usb.org/SpeedTouch/index.html.
The solutions I have used so far were for Mandriva and Ubuntu.
Clear easy instruction to follow and works flawlessly. I would not worry too much about the firewall part in the Mandriva instructions as you can do it yourself through the control centre.
But then again it will not hurt.

    Good luck.
