to cut along story short, what do you recommend for spyware removal without getting firefox. I have an ad-blocker but it doesnt stop these ads which pop up every few sites i visit, it is deffo spyware as these sites dont have ads. ad-aware doesnt find any baddies at all cheers
I dont know what you mean by "without getting firefox" It doesnt remove spyware. For syware I use ad-aware and spybot.
PC Tools Spyware Doctor. Been using it for over a year now ,Not had one bit of spyware,,,Also they do Registry Mechanic .
thanks but im lookin for somet free where the maker isnt greedy and forcing it on you to register and sticking it in your face to register even when you start windows.. if u let them do it they'll just keep on doin it so no thanks!!! --likewise with the ads im trying to get rid of, they pop up inconvienently coz there's always some pillok who'll click it and give them money, its them company's that don't deserve ur custom. the end!
I get the feeling you have a big problem with companies... but that's beside the point. Anyway, Ad-Aware SE Personal is free, as is Spybot Search and Destroy.
oh yeh thanks i tried that, even in safemode but i still get ads  ps, its coz of companies these ads pop up, they know the dammage and privacy (/bugging) they'll cause by the backdoor pop-ups, but they dont give a crap about u or me! its money they want, nothing else, i wouldnt be here now being bugged to hell trying my best to get rid of tis shit if their interests are for our enjoyment
[ot]You don't have any right to tell software developers who produce shareware what to do. It's not as if you don't have a choice, you do. If you think you can produce better software yourself the fine, go ahead and start coding. Otherwise stop giving companies/developers/anyone who tries to make a living a hard time.[/ot] If you're really having problems do a format and a fresh install, and use firefox, spybot & adaware from the beginning and use the internet sensibly. Or switch to Linux. Edit: I wasn't talking about companies who produce spyware, I was talking about antispyware developers.
[offtopic] im not againsed paying for stuff, espeially usefull. im on about their relationship to our computers they seem to love getting into, like they invade our privacy if you dont register, and like to get people in by saying "free scan" most people believe this is a free fix so it takes ages to find spyware with no hint of the charges then about 10mins of waiting it tells you to register, someone who deserves and has respect for your money will not sell you things this way they have it the easy way, but that's not enough, they want more!![/offtopic] ive got ad-aware, run spybot and antivirus bt the ads keep popping up
Free scan and free fix are not the same thing. If you fall into that trap and then complain, IMO you shouldn't be using a computer. Maybe take up fence licking or something (is that even a real career?) since the person is not intelligent enough to understand the difference. Even so, no one forced you to use their software. But we are talking about proper spyware tools, not the kind you see on banner ads which everyone knows don't work. As I said, if the tools fail format and reinstall. It's the only way to be sure, and start with good practices to reduce the risk. Yes, that means use a different web browser.
thanks but im wanting to avoid formatting as i have lots to lose and so much to stick back on but i will have to format if there's no programs that can fix it, i dont wanna take the risk of paying for a fix and have it not work, most likely regier-to-fix software will purposely show more errors on your system than is necessary thus to lure you into thinking its a good idea to buy - my opinion knowing how peeps operate companies
Hi Dwarfer, Got to say that i dont get the problem your on about. Yes i gat the occasional mail about new products but the update bit of the software is great .Thats wot its there for to stop all the crap.To an extent i am with you on some of it. Companys sell on your name ...etc.and Like some of these guys are saying there are programmes out there .Spybot is pretty good but is a bit slow sometimes .You dont say what Anti virus you are using.Or in deed The browser . Norton 2007 should stop all that and IE7 is pretty clued as well .They intagrate very well .But alas your now back to paying for it.I build a lot of systems and somettimes you just have to pay for it, but it certainly works..
Anyway you dont have to lose any data .Can you not piggy back your disk onto another one and then C/P it over. Format the origonal disk then u have to transfer what files you want back. No need to lose anything .Got to be careful you dont put the problem back on though.
well most of wot i can lose is software base that i have no installation files for :x: if i move it to a new destination where the registery is different i could lose it but its taken a lot of time thats why im here trying to find programs alas im gonna ave to try to pay for the fix.. unlikely to fix, but i will let you know
finally got round to formatting as it didnt work so now lost all me shit thanks to 888.com, tesco, ebay and vision express
Blimey formatting after only posting the prolem a day ago - bit hasty. Formatting would be my last-ditch resort, I'd look for fixes specific to each problem, sometimes it involves editing your registry and removing the bad keys etc... Oh well...
Unfortunately you can't ever be sure you've got rid of the spyware, since they may still leave files and registry keys behind. You also don't know how far your system's been compromised. I would have also started from the beginning, especially if sensitive data is stored on the disk. The spyware may have created extra vulnerabilities undetected during system scans. As the old adage goes, prevention is better than cure.
