    Hello,
I have attempted to update my 3 year old pc,with the following components
    -------------------------------------------
    graphics :1 x Asus Nvidia 7300GS 256MB PCI-E
mother board: 1 x AMD Athlon 64 (ADA3700DKA5CF) 3700 CPU Skt 939 San Diego *OEM*
    cpu :amd athlon 64 3700+
    memory 2x512 DDR 400mhz
cpu watercooling system(tranfered from my old pc)
Asus A8N-SLI SE Socket 939 Nvidia NF4 SLI ATX - Sound, Giga Lan USB 2.0 1000MHz FSB SATA
    ---------------------

Ok, so i have also 3 hard disks, one 40 gig (IDE) 120(IDE) 160 (sata.)
I have conencted everythign ok and double checked with the asus motherboard.everything powers up fine, cpu temp good, memory good,i connected only one hard disk,as a master, the 40 gig one, bios finds it ok,,,etc,,,
Booting up from windows xp, i format the drive normally, and begin installation, files are copied in the windows directory,,,and the pc restarts.....
Goes through the first post,,,,list all ide devices,,memomry tests ok,,,cd roms,ok,,,everythign is fine,,,then on the second post screen where all the pci devices are listed,,,it gets stuck there,,,,it does not move on the the GUI installation of Windows,,,,,, i have tried this with all my hard disks, and it happens again,.and again (the SATA one actually gives me a blue screen for some-reason-prob cuase i have not installed the drivers).so dont think its a hard disk prob...
I have moved my pci express card on the other pci-express slot,,still the same,,,removed memory modules and put them back in again,,,left only one of them,,,same thing,,,,
I have tried chaning the bios several times,,,but to no effect,,,i cleared the CMOS,,,nothing,,,
The trouble started since i installed the coolermaster aquagate mini, watercoller system (on my previous pc aswell,,,when i did install it,it was working fine and then suddenly was not budging from the pci device listings,so i changed motherboard and processor and still the same now).
Am just womndering if i damged anythign during the installation of the watercooler,,,,but if i did that,,wouldnt there be a problem before the pci device listing? I wouldnt be seing the cpu's temperature in my bios etc etc,,,,,
I have also tried disabling the halt on all errors in bios but 'idnt help......
So so far this is what i have done to try and fix the problem:
    1. Tried the installation on 2 different IDE drives,,,,,formatted and partitioned as normal (i think)....installeed windows as normal,,,,but still stuck at pci device
    2. Cleared CMOS by removing the battery, put the pin to 2-3 for 5-10 secs and put back to 1-2 and installed th ebattery again-didnt help
    3. Moved memory around, changed memory chips from different vendor,,,same crap...
    4. Installed windows on a sat drive,,but didnt put drivers so it bluescreend on me,,didnt try this as of yet
5.Changed the PSU just in case it was a power problem,,,still the same
6.Changed positiong of the PCI-Exprcs card, from the blck o blue slot, and back, if this was not working properly i wouldnt be seeign anythign on screen at all?
    7. Removed power from dvrw/cd rom drive and re-bootted, nothing,
    8. Disabled serial,parallele,audio, midi, game etc etc,,,nothing

Only thing remaining is to remove, the cpu cooler and check processor again,,but not sure how much this will help stuff.....
    Any ideas?

You may want to try reserving an IRQ or two in PnP/PCI devices (check your motherboard manual as to where, since Asus BIOS layouts are a little different than a lot of others).

    Also check your boot sequence.

Next, check your CPU temp in BIOS...that should give you an idea of if the cooling is working properly or not.
