'system fan failed! need help COMPAQ PERSARIO 2.6GHZ ASUS P4G533-LA Socket 478 HP Compaq MOTHERBOARD Bootup error: 'system fan failed! Have system serviced immediately! System will power down in 5 seconds.' The system fan is an exhaust fan with a funnel enclosure to the heatsink, and is working perfectly. I've reseated the processor, cleaned it and applied new thermal compound. Moved the 512MB DDR memory to slot 2. the temp 39c/102f is working ok 4100 rpm is working ok t Please....Any suggestions as to what the problem could be?
Do check the thermal gel that goes on top of the chip, this stuff enhances heat transfer from your chip to the heatsink. I’ve opened up computers less than a year old, and found the gel had already dried to a thin white crust, utterly worthless for transferring heat. Hope this will help....
It could actually be system fan itself. It has electronix inside for speed control, etc... What to do? Get a new system fan (CPU) fan. Those can be found on eBay for your system, but also do a pricegrabber search. Another thing you could try is to peel back the sticker on the fan, and lube it. (I suggest 3 in 1 oil from your local hardware store). Rare case scenario. Electronix on your board that monitors the fan is bad. That means board replacement. Though, most likely, you need to reset your CMOS by disconnecting power and setting jumper. Fix it and sell it.
First off I would try a reset Cmos. reload all bios settings back to default. if no luck buy a new fan. what your experiencin is a mechanism that shuts down your pc because it thinks your cpu fan isn't working even though it is to prevent your cpu from frying. some motherboards don't even post if the cpu fan isnt workin. so give a reset cmos ago. replace the fan. does your bios pick up your cpu fan rpm?? if not try flashing the bios, because for some reason it thinks your fan doesn't work. if no luck with that i would say motherboard malfunction.
sounds like the fan is failing at some point, prepeberly during post. other possibilities are failing detection of the fan speed, check the bios for fan rpm, check if the fan is in the right socket if you have done some moving about in there, disable unnecessary fan sensors in bios. failing that just choose "stop on no errors", im not sure if that will solve the error pop-up but if it doesnt just disable the fan sensor in bios to stop the popups
