hey all,
i have a dell laptop and i recently reformatted. before, i used to have some text utility "clear text" or "true text" or something like that, that used to let me play with the contrast of text (on the desktop icons and stuff like that) and i could get better text quality all around on my lcd with that.
i was wondering if anyone has that, or could provide me a like to that, as i have forgotten its actual name and am not able to find it :(

thanks!

Cleartype? Got to display properties>appearance>effects>then choose the second dropdown box and change from standard to cleartype. :)

yea that sounds familiar!
i was on xp beore, now im on win2k tho..

so i dont see what you are saying.

edit: damn it seems its only there for win xp. guess i better go find my xp cd and reformat again lol.

Unfortunately MS only implemented ClearType in XP, no earlier versions. You may be able to download a third party utility that mimicks it, but i can't find any. Its not really common because the designers have to go into sub pixel rendering to get the effect. You may also be able to get anti-aliased fonts for download.
