Ok I succesfully created a driver diskette so I could do a fresh XP install on a unformatted SATA hard drive.
I followed the instructions I had to install XP but after selecting the RAID driver to use from the diskette the computer still couldnt detect the drive.
I then remembered that you have to enable SATA in the BIOS.
Trouble is I dont now how to enable it. :(
 
I know where to go in the bios I just dont know how to enable it because there are lots of different options. I tried fiddleing with it and when computer booted up it just hangs on verifying dma pool data.
This ia anew barebones system and a new drive.I know the drive works as i tried it in my other comp but didnt format it.
Basically I need full instructions on setting up the drive in the bios.
 
Try enabling one setting, rebooting, checking the list of IDE devices to make sure stuff is showing up. Repeat as necessary. If you've got a Western Digital SATA drive you're trying (doesn't look like it), make sure you have the jumper setting correct.
