    Hello

I have this old laptop a Toshiba Satellite 1800-400. A few years ago some one throwed it at a wall and smashed the screen! not me :)

Since then I have hooked it up to a desktop screen and formated it but all I get are hard disk errors in dos, I tryed the restore disk from Toshiba and Windows boots up and I get the Windows Millennium Edition screen and then it gos blank. I am guessing the laptop is fine except just for the screen/hdd ?

I would like to try a new/used hdd as cheaply as I can as I dont want to spend lost on a broken laptop, so what hdd can I put in it will any one work?

If so I could get a cheap old one from ebay or even a new one. Its a shame to leave it laying about doing nothing.

Also what about one of these Hard drive conversion leads, would that work ok as I have a spare 3.5 HDD I could use for the laptop?

Heres some info on the HDD/Laptop:

    Disk Drive: MK1517GAP
    HDD2157
    DC+5V 0.7A

    Toshiba Satellite 1800-400
    Part Number : PS181E-00D59-EN
    Mobile Intel Celeron 800 MHz
    14.1" TFT colour display <---- Smashed :)
Integrated 8-speed DVD-ROM drive and diskette drive
    V.90 Data/Fax modem
    15.0 GB HDD
    128 MB SDRAM

    Thanks for the help :)
