Transfer rates are SLOW

hopesfall

Geek Trainee
I have two SATA drives in my computer (1x Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 and 1x Seagate Barracuda 7200.9).

The 7200.9 is SATAII so I had to put a jumper on to make the transfer rate 1.5G/s. The motherboard I'm using is the Asus A8VE-Deluxe.

This has been a problem since I got the drive (and I've tried 2 different drives so I know its not the drives themselves) but whenever I transfer from one drive to the other, it is obsurdly slow. Today I tried to transfer 16G from one to the other and it took an hour.

Anybody have any ideas as to what might be causing this?

I figured it out.
I went to update my BIOS thinking maybe it had something to do with the SATA controllers. After updating the BIOS I rebooted and decided to check out what was in the BIOS (maybe something new? lol). Nothing new. Anyway, I was just browsing around and saw that there was a setting for the SATA. It was set as RAID. So I changed it to IDE and low and behold ~ Blazing fast trasnfer rates! I dont think I've ever seen a DVD encode so fast!! (a backup of a movie I own, of course).
