i put in the cd for my new video card and i get an error saying "the nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. setup will now exit" uhh..then it exits. i was told by technical support that i need to update my chipset. i have a compaq presario 6420NX..i'm not sure what kind of motherboard i have but my BIOS version is Phoenix Technologies, LTD 3.09, incase anyone needs to know that to help me out. please, if anyone can give me some advice i would really appreciate it. im getting frustrated with this computer already.
The title says you are trying to install your Sound Card, and your post says your trying to install your Video Card drivers, what's going on there? Why did tech support tell you to update the Chipset drivers and what problems are you having?
haha woops..yea trying to install video card not sound card. well i put in the card but i cant install it with the cd..i get that error. tech support told me that my problem was simple and i need to update my chipset..i dont know why, but they said that will work. but i have no idea how to do that.
Before installing your new video card, did you make sure to uninstall your onboard video card's drivers? Also, did you disable the onboard video in the BIOS prior to booting back into Windows?
