I have a 120Gb Maxtor 7200 rpm 8MB cache which I use as my C drive. I have tried, using both Partition Magic 7 and Acronis PartitionExpert Personal, to carry out the task but to no avail. Both programs show the projected partitions correctly and, on pressing the 'execute' button, informs me that a reboot is required. I press the OK button and my computer reboots but on checking My Computer I find that nothing has happened. I read up on the documentation for Partition Magic and it stated that GoBack (which I have installed) had to be uninstalled prior to partitioning: this I did but I ended up with the same result - no partition. I have another hard drive on my computer which I have used Partition Magic to partition successfully.

Whether it is relevant, but I have recently done a clean reinstall of Windows XP HE and the SP2. Any suggestions?

You cn always partition the drive during a Windows XP boot setup if all else fails. Or you might be able to use the FDisk command but I'm not all too sure.
