Lately my computer has been giving me a strange issue, which takes place mostly while playing games such as League of Legends, Skyrim, or Diablo 3. At seemingly random times, my computer screen freezes, the graphics look cut up and 'shattered' (for lack of a better term), and my sound becomes terribly distorted and etchy for around 2 seconds, after which the game closes and I am left with only my desktop. From this point I cannot open any other program without it looking graphically distorted and giving me error messages until I restart my computer. Everything runs fine for anywhere between 2 to 12 hours before the same thing happens again.
Originally I thought this was a graphics card issue so I reapplied the thermal compound, cleaned the card, and turned up the fanspeed to double what it was previously doing (from 25% to 50%). The problem occurred once again despite these changes and led me to believe that it was not a problem with my graphics card. I don't know what else could have caused this issue, and any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated as I do not want to end up swapping out component after component in an effort to find the solution. I'm not sure where else to post this since I am not sure of the root of the problem.
