No big probs here, just a simple question

Am i able to upgrade a Celeron 466(MHz)A to a PIII? (or PII if need be)
which translates into this: Is there any Slot 1 PIII/PIIs?
And if there is, can my motherboard handle it? it's a Seanix Columbia (MB 440BX SNX CBIII Snd Hm CBIII-B/A/H)

    Thanks.

It's a 440BX, so depending on the motherboard's limitations itself, you could put any Slot 1 100MHz FSB CPU in there. However, if the board doesn't have a BIOS update or the ability to support the lower voltages of the Coppermine Pentium III/Celeron (533A and up).

Pentium II's were all slot 1, as well as early Pentium III's, although if you look hard enough, you can find up to 1GHz PIII's. The problem, as mentioned before is that your motherboard may not be designed to handle the lower voltages. Additionally, it may not have a large enough multiplier to support the CPU.

Basically, check the manual for the board and the manufacturer's website to see if they've got a BIOS update for it. Otherwise, you can try it, but it's a hit or miss, despite that you've got the 440BX chipset.

Okay. i took the initiative to open up my comp. and took a look @ my motherboard. The text beside the jumpers say it can support up to 550Mhz PIII.

    thx for the re:
