Hi, this is a very difficult question, but it will save me some money if someones knows the answer: Here's my ordeal... Since day one I've had an awfull lot of trouble with my western digital drives when in raid0 The problem is the motherboard's raid controller fails and one drive goes offline and the pc crashes. After doing a bit of research I found that my drive model (GLFS) are not good for RAID and cause this kind of error, so I'm wishing to change them to the newer model, the HLFS, which is supposed to be ok with raid. I guess my main question is can I ask WD for an upgrade, as its kinda their fault that they didn't tell anybody about the design error, or will I have to fork out for 2 new drives? If I have to opt for the latter, can I just buy one HLFS model and keep one of my current GLFS ones to make this raid stable as 2x HLFS, or do I have to swap them both? - I understand that using 2 HLFS ones will be better but I was hoping someone knows the answer to this as it will save me money. Cheers! FYI: Just to point out one issue when the raid fails its the same rail that fails, not the same drive.
