Hi Ever since replacing my Intel motherboard with an ASROCK VIA chipset my graphics performance seems to have dropped massively. It's like I am running with a screen refresh rate of 20. There is a definate "lagging" to the whole system. Watching TV is not smooth anymore. It's like the frame rate has dropped or something. Same for DVDs too. My graphics card is an nVidia Geforce FX 5200 PCI and I am running Kubuntu Dapper Drake with 8776 drivers
I'm using an NVidia card with a VIA chipset, no problems here. Please run a 'lspci' and post the results here. Also 'modprobe -l | grep via'. Finally, post the output of 'glxinfo | grep render'.

Remove the nVidia card and use the onboard VIA graphics to see if the problems persist? Replace the proprietor nVidia driver with the 'nv' driver to see if the problems persist? Thanks man
Hmm, the kernel's pretty old. The northbridge doesn't seem to be detected; it may be newer than the kernel modules. You might want to try a newer kernel.
You were right AT! I am in a Kubuntu Gutsy live cd as I type this and the output of the lspci command is as follows: Code: 00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc.
