This probably doesn't belong here, but after my own testing and fiddling around with my current problem I am starting to think that it is my videcard.
But I am always up for different opinions and hopfully not having to RMA my card.
My Problem is this - If I play a game, that requires 3D Rendering of any kind, no matter how unintensive or intensive the rendering should be, after five - six minutes of gameplay (Always this set time.) my entire computer locks up and I have to do a hard reset.
My Current system specifications:
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2500+ w/ Barton Core
RAM: 1 Gigabyte of RAM
Soundcard: OnBoard AC97 (Unfortunately)
Videocard: eVGA nVidia G-Force 6600GT 128MB RAM
DirectX Version is 9.0c
The games I have tested with, and have gotten the same results are:
Freelancer
Painkiller
Oblivion
Call of Duty
What I have tested:
Graphics Card overheating using RivaTuner
- The card does not go over 60c, which is what it runs at, at an idle.
CPU Overheating using ASUS Probe
- Motherboard does not exceed 43c
Bad Blocks of Memory in the RAM using Memtest
- I let this run for two passes, and it came up with nothing.
- I ran the memory because I just bought two new sticks of Kingston RAM
I have also tried re-formatting everything, which wasn't intended but needed to be done anyways :)
What I have done in the passed week that may be affecting this:
- Installed two sticks of 256mb Kingston RAM, DDR
- Installed a 450w PSU, the new card kinda blew up my old 350w
My graphics card driver is the latest from the nVidia website.
I doubt it's needed, but I want to be thourough, and have attatched a dump of dxdiag.
