Video playback lock-up

I recently bought a new nVidia GeForce 6200 and double memory (Now 1024mb) I didn't actually check to see if it was all compatible, because I got both the card and computer previously from the same superstore... but I think I got lucky and they are, but I am not sure how to check.

I had some problems with lag but that seems to have cleared up now.

But I have a persisting problem; when I play a video file my computer locks up. I can still move my mouse, but it jumps to where I moved it a couple of minutes late.

Any help is much appreciated :ff:
Thanks

Try installing the latest version of DirectX, your motherboard and video drivers, and the codec for the video type you are trying to play. Also, you might try out some alternate video player software and see if anything changes. Let us know how it works out.

I downloaded the latest drivers and a pack of XP codecs and they work well now :x: I guess it's kind of obvious. Sorry.

Thanks for your help though :D
