I can think of two ways to solve this and I am not taking responsibility for any loss of work etc etc :)

    1) Remove the primary hard drive from the WIndows 98 virtual machine (so it has no hard drives whatsoever). Then go into the Windows 98 VM settings and press 'add'. Select 'Hard Disk' and choose 'use existing hard disk' (or something along those lines). Select the primary hard drive (the one you just removed) and press OK

    2) Have you edited the hosts (Kubuntu) partition table (the one which you use to store your virtual machines)? If so, you might want to temporarely move the working directory to another partition and then move it back again.

On a side note, VMware is probably my favourite peice of software of all time! It's proved absolutely invaluable to my MCSE studies. :)

Have you used the 'Snapshot' feature in VMware? It's great. It's what System Restore should have been :) I can install Windows 98, take a snapshot, upgrade it to Windows XP and then when I've finished I can use the 'Revert' function to turn it back to 98 again.

I also like that fact that I can try out new Linux distributions without having to burn a CD-R. I can just mount the ISO file as a CD-ROM device instead.

    no not yet
    i'll have to try it

    me too

hang on a bit mega, it your fault i've had to buy a new 320Gb HDD, if i never knew about VMware i'd not need more free space,

i can't decide if using vmware is a good idea, was happy with XP (well nearly) and an 80Gb HDD

scrach that "I LOVE VMWARE"[ot]i can't get frespire to boot in vmware[/ot]
