VoIP

Hi all:

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on VoIP! I wish to set-up an internet phone, with an answer machine facility, however I'm unsure of which is the best package? Does it cost to receive calls via VoIP? And therefore would an answer machine service also cost?

Thanks

Oliver

It depends what service you go for. You might want to check out Sipgate.. they offer free 0845/0870 phone no's that can receive calls from your PC!

There is lot's of VoIP software out which is easy to configure but, the best I found for beginner's was X-Lite. If you signup for a sipgate number, they have a tutorial for you to follow with your unique details.

You can also receive voicemails etc but I think it may cost (not used it in a while).

It doesn't cost the HOST any money to receive calls but I think it has some fee's for the CALLER. See this page for details. (sipgate.de - Ihre Internet-Telefongesellschaft..

Hope that helps mate.

Hi;

Yes, it did thanks!

I'm in the process of developing my own VoIP software, and I suppose that ultimately this will work out to be the best option, in particualr because I wont incur any of the additional charges one finds with the available packages!

Thanks again

Oliver ;)
