Hi Peoples, Ok, Got a Voodoo3 3000 PCI 2D/3D Graphics Accelerator card off the missus for my birthday. Computer was running on ME and the card fully insalled and was playing awsome games. Problem: Decided to put XP on the other day so formatted my computer dropped xp and all other programmes on but the computer will not take the Graphics Card drivers. Checked the bios and the computer knows its there, but cannot install it. I even opened the disk and tried to run it manually, but it just won't have it. Any one wanna fill me in on what I am doing wrong??? Please Help! Kind Regards
Well, you're going to be in a tough spot. 3DFX has been toast for a few years now, and the drivers that are available are going to be pretty hard to find. You'll have to search around for BETA Windows 2000 drivers (which are about the newest you can find). Off-hand, I'd suggest looking over at NTCompatible and even browsing their forums. One of the admins, SHS, has something to do with the V2/3's in the driver development by a 3rd party. Alternatively, you might want to just go ahead and buy a newer card with actual driver support from a company still in business. I loved 3DFX, but the company is out of business, and their products aren't really supported these days.
