Hi lads, I'm wondering what cable connector(s) I should use in order to get the clearest picture on my 37" LCD-TV. Right now I'm using S-Video (both output and input), which causes a major loss of quality. I tried using the S-Video output on my computer and connect it through a SCART-adapter, but the result was just as painful to watch. Besides the S-Video input, my TV has two HDMI-inputs and two SCART-inputs. My computer has a VGA-output, and I'm guessing this will give the best result combined with an HDMI-adapter, but I'm curious whether or not these will work together, as VGA transmits analogue signals, as opposed to the digital signals of HDMI. Any thoughts on what cable connector(s) I should choose? And are there any problems related to the connection of LCD-TVs and computers (I've for instance heard, that you shall not use plasmas to display computer-signals)? Any help will be greatly appreciated
yeah, i think its something like that about the plasma tv's and computers. Did you get your TV in France?? i know thats where scart came from, but thats analog so that would work, granted i have no idea what the resolution capabilities are for SCART. However, the HDMI solution would be much nicer but, they are two different signals, so you'd have to get a converter and then it would be a whole other ordeal. By chance, does your tv have RGB inputs, if so that is most likely the best route besides the SCART thing, but i have no idea what the capabilities are. Ok hope that helped, if not feel free to ask for clarification.
Yeah, but I haven't heard anything like that when it comes to LCD TVs. No, I got my TV back in Norway, where SCART is the standard cable connector between DVD players and the TV (the resolution is very good). Yes, I have got RGB connectors on the side. I suppose you mean I should use the VGA output on my computer and buy an adapter to RGB cables? Please let me know whether I got this right or not Thank you.
yeah that would work fine, the VGA to RGB. Ok, well now that i've looked over your first post and i'm guessing that SCART doesn't have the greatest capabilities. That said the s-video connector on the graphics card has about twice as many pins as a TV S-video, but i you should be able to get an adapter from the graphics card S-video to RGB, thats the solution i used and it worked out fairly well, i was happy with it. Again, any issues feel free to post back
Ok, then I'll try that. Let's just hope the retailer carries such a cable connector Thanks for your help, mate
