What to know about water cooling

Hey i want to put a water cooling system in my computer. But i has to be external because their is no room inside my case for it. I want to know what water cooling you recomend me getting i cant spend over $300 on it thoe and it is for p4 system
 
While piecing together a system would be the best, you'll want to look at Koolance EXOS setup. It's about the best external unit you can get. The GlobalWIN Jefi looks intresting, but the resivoir is open and the ocean theme of it may not be what floats your boat. There's also the Corsair HydroCool, but the performance isn't all that impressive. The last one I can think of that might be good is the CoolerMaster AquaGate, and that seems to be the next best thing to the Koolance EXOS. The neat thing about the AquaGate is that you can later on (in a normal case) have it as an internal unit, but it's setup to also work outside the case.

If you're getting this so you can overclock...well, forget it. Dell really doesn't make their motherboards with overclocking in mind.
 
Know her is another qestion i have lets say i get the coolermaster unit. I the one with the dell. It has a weird setup for its heat sink. In stead of their being the little clips for the water block to mount to their is a little square and some clips on that and it dose not work with other heat sinks i already tried a new fan but i dose not fit
 
If I remember correctly, Dell has a passive heatsink on the CPU and has it setup so that there's one fan in back sucking air through the case. There may be a shroud over the CPU itself, but I'm not sure.

From the way it looks, you'll have to remove the motherboard to install the waterblock, mainly because there's a retention bracket that mounts from behind the motherboard and that the standard P4 heatsink bracket must be removed.
 
Yeah what you explained for the fan on the case that is what is thier.

I think im going to get the Cooler Master it looks like a good system and is at a good price. The images i see look like it has an adapter for what i need check the link out

K thanks im not sure if im going to get it know i think i might get another 1gb of ram with my money that would give me 2gb of ram in my computer yeah that website is alsome thanks
 
It really depends on what you're going to do. You might find buying a GeForce 6800 instead of going to 2GB of RAM much more beneficial, especially if you're into heavy gaming.
 
I dont know if i want a new card i already have a ATI 9800 PRO 128mb that i am happy with will 2GB of memory make my computer that much faster. What i real am looking for is i got like 300 dollars and i want to put it into my computer is their something you can recomand that i could spend it on that would help my computer look better work better or make it faster. Remeber i have the Dell so their some restrictions
 
i am currently running a Koolance EXOS setup first generation, have had it for about four years. it is by far better than air, i had at first used the distilled water and the solution they supplied. but switched to 50/50 antifreeze and distilled water solution. thing runs great, only thing i wish was that temp senor was thiner that i could place it between the cpu and water block for a better reading but meh. they might have changed this in the new ones. but i dont break 45c under long full loads with a room temp of 25-28c . as for run time my machine is almost never power down.
i am running a AMD 64 3500+ single core
its pretty quiet in general and does a good, i am sure you can achive lower load temps with a cool room temp, i just live in a loft lol. and pending on how dusty your eviroment is you might care to clean your raditor with some compressed air from time to time
 
that might be a BTX setup, i've seen a decent amount of P4's that are BTX types from Dell. Oh and another unit to look at is the Gigabye 3D Galaxy water cooler, its around $150 and it works pretty well.

Dell accually makes the fan at the back blow into the case.
 
They also typically have a duct from the fan to the CPU, which Dell equips with a passive heatsink (no fan).

But, I don't know how that relates to Dell's lack of BIOS options for overclocking...
