Hello, Im building a pc or i already have but im replacing the stock heatsink with a new one.... keep my CPU cooler. But I dont know which heatsink is the best and compatible with the components i have. I want a really good one and keeps things cool.:chk: this is my motherboard.... and this is my CPU... Thank you for your time!!
I'd only change the heatsink if fan noise was a problem or planning to overclock anyway, here's my recommendation - Newegg.com - ZALMAN CNPS 9700 NT 110mm 2 Ball Ultra Quiet CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks - Newegg.com - Noctua NH-U12P 120mm SSO CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks
yes, if you looking at other heatsinks make sure they come with a AM2 compatible bracket... (look under specification on the above links)
Just fyi - i have a phenom II x4 940 black edition - with the stock cooling have it running at 3.5ghz, they are very head & energy efficient and only need an aftermarket cooler if you are heading up to 4ghz
The TRUE is amazing, but pricey. I like the xigamteck cooler myself, the black Knight cooler comes with a bult thru kit.
