What text editor do you prefer in linux?

Personally, I'm a vi guy. Its small and I like the name. Emacs for doing larger text jobs, but even then I like vi. Love pressing :w

Vi. I never got the hang of Emacs. I can see it's use, but for simple text editing, it's excessive. I'm quite sure that was designed with programmers specifically in mind.

I had to choose Kate and Kwrite as they are the only ones I have experienced (unless you conceder Notepad a text editor  ). Saying that I never felt the need for anythng else. It does everything I need and more. Maybe it's time to see what else is out there? :eek:hah:

vim for most things, Kate when it's convenient. Kate is a superb text editor all around, and even carries the KDE continuity with it's tabbed interface.
