You mean PCIe right? PCI has been a standard for a long time.

As far as motherboards go, how much are you looking to spend?

What do you have now, and what do you want to do with this computer? Depending on that, you may not see a whole lot of improvement, but have blown a load of cash. Currently even AGP 8x provides more than enough bandwith for video cards, so going with PCIe isn't going to make a real difference.

Also, if you get a newer LGA775 P4 board, you'll also need to factor in a new power supply, and possibly new RAM.

Hi, if you want to upgrade to PCI Express, wait until AMD comes out with it and go with an Athlon 64 system!

Do you have the PCI Express card (PCIe, PCI-E, not PCI-X---that's totally different, standing for PCI- Extended)? If not, you could wait up two years or more and still be fine by not upgrading to PCIe. There will be PCIe capable boards out for the Athlon 64/FX, they just aren't out their now. PCIe is a rather newly introduced technology, and Intel alone has been the first out of the gate.

Do you have to have a PCIe video card?
