Why is it doing this?

Impotence

May the source be with u!
i recently orderd two new Modules of ram, but when i instaled it, my computer stoped working When i put the old one back in it worked fine.

I currently have 2 x 256 DDR 3200 400mhz & 1 x 256 DDR 2100 200Mhz and it works, well sort of I dont think that its using my new ram it nows its there my page file goes nuts (100+ pages a second) when i play Doom 3.

if i got a new processor (AMD 3000+ at 400fsb) would i be able to rip out my old RAM?

What do you mean by 'it stopped working' ? Specifically, what's it doing (or not doing)? If it's not booting, is it beeping, or giving some error code with the D-LED module?

What RAM did you order? I had one of those K7N2 Delta-L's and it threw fits with Kingston PC3200 (DDR 400) Value RAM that I had. If you've had this board for awhile, you may want to flash to the latest BIOS as it should have better support with the nForce 2 being a fairly mature chipset by this point and most bugs should be worked out.

You also might want to test the RAM in another system to make sure you didn't get some DOA sticks.

it does all the crap that dispalys info about ur computer and then the screen goes blank and theres a line of text telling me it cant load something.

it's allready flashed so its above 5.2> , whats "DOA" (sorry i am just stupid), i wont be able to test it cos i have a reputation for making mistakes (havent made any 4 a while though :chk: ) , oh its Kingston, well thats what it says on it the name burned onto the chips is definetly not kingston

First off, BigB said that in his experience the Kingston PC3200 (400mhz) Value modules did not like your motherboard model.

I suggest trying this (below) if it does not work presume they are dead on arrival, or test them in another system.

DOA stands for Dead On Arrival, it happens with the odd few parts, you may have been given your memory from a bad batch your retailer received, or it may have been damaged it delivery.

This is what i would do:
Take your DDR 2100 200mhz 256mb memory module out, and leave it out.

Now with no memory in your system, put your 2 new pieces of memory into the computer, make sure they are in Dim1 and Dim2 (the two memory slost nearest your CPU).

If this does not work at all.. then there is something wrong, if it does boot on, it's because you were running your new kingston 400mhz memory with a old 200mhz memory, some memory / motherboards can be picky about memory.

But its usually a good idea to run them at the same speed / model and brand if possible.

If just using your new memory does not work i would try this:

Try these combinations of memory:

New memory Module 1 + old memory module (kingston 400mhz + 2100 200mhz)
New memory Module 2 + old memory module (kingston 400mhz + 2100 200mhz)
New memory Module 1 (by itself)
New memory Module 2 (by itself)

but in both these combinations make sure the newer memory is in memory slot 1 (dimm 1)

You know your old memory works, you just need to test your new stuff, so try booting your system with 1 x 256mb kingston 400mhz at a time, if it does not boot then you know it doesnt work..

now take that memory out and put your 2nd piece of 256mb kingston 400mhz in, now if this doesn't work then you know both pieces of memory are not working, if one of them works and the other doesn't, keep the one that works and send the other back for a working replacement, obviously if you brought them both in a Dual Channel kit then you will have to return them (or if they came in the same box).

Whether u get a replacement or keep them, I RECOMMEND that you DO NOT run PC2100 and PC3200 speed memory modules at the same time.

Run only the faster you have. Or the larger amount of memory you have, depends what you are using.

I do know that the Kingston problem was a specfic issue with MSI nForce 2 motherboards, as I did have an i865P-based one that ran the same PC3200 modules just fine.

Okay, it can't load something...likely it's unable to find an OS. What my guess is that the timings for the RAM aren't set correctly and/or the voltage needs to be bumped up a tad to stabilize it. If you can get into BIOS, bump the DDR voltage to something like 2.6-2.7V. Also, make sure that the CAS memory timing is set to either 2.5 or 2, the nForce 2 does not work well with this at 3.
