I recently bought a 26" LCD television for my room. I had a thought of removing my old 17" computer monitor and hooking my computer to the 26" TV. I got everything working, except when I put the TV from normal (4:3) to widescreen (16:9), it stretches my computer (but not the actual TV). Now I knew this would happen, so I thought of adjusting my screen resolution from the computer. But I doesn't work when I have it set to widescreen because it makes it stretched out. Only normal setting (4:3) works properly. I currently have two black bars to either side of my screen:

I have widescreen settings on my computer, but when I set it to that, it just makes my screen cut off, still with the two black bars. And when I set it to widescreen (16:9) from my TV, it still stretches it.
Thanks in advanced for any help.

(Oh, and by the way, I'm extending my desk so I'm not so close to the screen ;))

Have you tried to put the screen resolution in Windows to a squarebox resolution (800x600, 1024x786 etc.), and then set the tv to widescreen?

Yes I have, but that's my problem. It stretches it, and makes my whole computer look "fat".
