I am looking at this board on tigerdirect. I have some PC4200 533Mhz memory at home and want to use it in this board. It says that it supports PC4200 800Mhz memory, but doesn't say anything about 533. I was wondering if the slower memory will work in it, or will it only allow 800mhz?
Thanks for any help. Here is the link.

    Welcome to HWF :)

According to the specs, it only supports the DDR2-800 PC6400 chip, and no other speeds like 533 MHz.

Hi. Thanks for the quick reply. Where do you see that is says that? I am looking at it now, and I see that it supports 800mhz, but I don't see anything about PC6400. If a motherboard does support a certain speed, can you use slower ram, as long as it is of the same type?

I meant PC2-6400. That is the same as DDR2-800 (is explained here)
No, it only supports the speeds that are displayed at the Supported RAM section. If only 800 is listed, you can't use 533 because it is not supported.

Ok. I understand now. Thank you for your help. I was confused about this because the guy I chatted with from tigerdirect didn't know much and said it would. So I came here to get a better opinion, which is what I got. So I appreciate that. Thanks again!
