Hey guys, I need help with my upgrade choice. Ive spent quite a long time trying to choose which components to get, for quite an extensive upgrade. Ive found where to get them all, but i need to know if they will actually work together, so if there are any compatability issues or i have chosen the wrong type of product please let me know!!! The upgrade choice is as follows: Processor - AMD Athlon64 3800 Venice Retail Socket 939, RAM - Corsair 1GB XMS3200 DDR SDRAM, MOBO -Asus A8N-SLi Premium nForce4 SLi, Power Supply - EZCool 600W ATX PSU 12cm Silent Fan, Graphics card - Nvidia 7800GTX 256M That would be a huge help!!!
I've never heard of EZCool power supplies, and suffice to say, I would not recommend going with them. I'd go with Antec, Enermax, OCZ or PC Power & Cooling (if you want to have the Rolls Royce of power supplies). The Antec TruePowerII 500 or 550 units or the Enermax EG565P series or EG701 series would be my personal pick followed by an OCZ 520 or 600W unit. The reason for having a good power supply goes beyond wattage, which is little more than marketing these days. The guts of the unit are very important, and the companies I listed are those that use high quality parts and have a history of producing solid power supplies. Having a good power supply should be the most important component alongside the motherboard. Other parts, including the CPU, can come later. I've got a link in my sig that goes more in-depth about this subject. Outside of the power supply, it looks good. You could go with the Deluxe version of the A8N-SLI which doesn't use the heatpipe setup, or if you're not going to move to SLI in the future, go with the A8N-E or MSI K8N Neo4 series.
