windows 2k & nVidia forceware

Hi all

I can't get any drivers for my Geforce 2MX to work on Win 2k. I've made a dual boot system and all the other operating systems install the drivers OK - even NT4.0!

The screen simply goes blank after the 'starting windows 2000' white screen. I have to reboot in safe mode and uninstall the drivers for it to work OK

Any ideas? Is this a known issue with windows 2k?

I know you said it 'goes blank,' but do you get any errors at that point or afterwards? First of all, make sure your OS is completely up to date before installing these video drivers, including Direct X. Make sure your old nvidia drivers are completely uninstalled... you may want to consider using driver cleaner. When you install the drivers again, make sure that any antivirus program on your system is turned off for the moment and I would suggest installing drivers from this site. Good luck. For some reason, I just can't get the nVidia drivers to work in 2K. Not even the drivers that came on the orginal driver CD for my Geforce2! As I mentioned before, I've had no problems installing them on Windows 98SE/NT4/XP. I updated Directx 9 and I installed the latest VIA chipset drivers, but still no go.

[ot] Windows 2000 is also being a pain in the arse with my other hardware! All the other OSs work OK except 2000. It doesn't like my onboard sound card at all (cmedia) and it refuses to install my USB 2.0 card (& attached hub) properly! I've installed Windows 2000 on other machines before and never had any of these problems. I always thought it was a solid operating system. Maybe it's just this particular PC, either way, i've lost the faith in 2k.... [/ot]
