Windows File Protection problem

Afternoon People!

After my computer boots up I get a box appear on the screen that say`s Windows File protection. It scans my computer to, apparently, check that my files are in the original condition. Half way through the scan I get e message asking me to insert the windows xp disk because files from the dll are required for windows to run correctly. I have done this on more than one occasion. I have also clicked cancel when the scan starts and everything works fine. I suppose I have a few questions that I would like to ask.

1 Why does this happen every time I turn the machine on?

2 If I have a problem how can I put it right so that the said box stops appearing cause its starting to get on my nerves (it never used to do it!)?

3 If I haven`t got a problem how can I turn Windows File Protection off?

Restart computer follow on screen instructions regarding inserting windows xp disc. Let scan complete then restart.
