Windows Vista :: Installing

I'm on Windows XP right now, but on my new computer, there will be Windows Vista. I've installed Windows XP before, however never done it with Windows Vista. Maybe someone, who have already done it with Windows Vista could say to me, if this process too much/not much the same. Personally, I like to do it my self and not to let someone do it for me, so I need to know something about it. What are the primary differences if such are and step by step instructions are needed. It's pretty easy to do it with Windows XP I guess, but what about Windows Vista?

If you can install XP then you can install Vista, though I'd recommended sticking with XP.
 
Thanks, that's what I was needed to know. Thought, it's logical - why would newer OS be harder to maintain... easier of course. Just needed to check.

Why do you recommend Windows XP instead of Windows Vista? Yes, I understand, that Windows Vista Ultimate requires 3GB of RAM and 32-bit version can only handle 3.2GB (that's nasty)... but, what about DirectX 10 games? I choose everything new, and I'm naturally interested in Windows Vista and I want to see it's new futures.

...However, 32-bit versions will be over in 2010, when Windows 7 will be released. I'm sure, that it will be only 64-bit... that's why I'm buying middle class PC right now to change or upgrade it in 2010~2012. I like to stick near $2000 ($500 less / $500 more).

I'm sure, that Windows 7 will be perfect and I'm a fan of it right now, even thought it's not even released yet... LOL. It will be not only perfect, it will be a revolution of 64-bit OS and all programs and games to this time will support it. It will be a whole new level of computing expirience!

How big is your hard drive ?? If it is big enough, then just have a dual boot system.. Just use Partition Magic to make another drive,then install Vista on that drive... Vista will take care of the boot manager...
 
It is pretty basic just follow the steps like you did with XP but also you need good memory to run vista well like more then 2GB because its very hungry :D
 
I've noticed that the installation program of Vista has some issues with the bootloader. Sometimes after the first reboot during the installation, you only see a black screen. If that happens, then run the installation again and everything should be okay.
