I have just updated to version 8. Now when I click on an icon to open an existing file a box appears " Please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office SR-1 Professional" then - "insert CD". I do not have or want Microsoft Office. Any ideas how to disable this as I am fed up with having to click cancel several times so that the file will open. I am using Microsoft XP Prof.
I know you said you don't want MS Office, but what about OpenOffice, since that is free? Not very many people use Works, and I honestly haven't used it in years, so I am not sure how much help you will get. I wish I could help more, but check out OpenOffice.
